Linsey Martin is the teacher and creative behind Mālama Macramé. Find her on IG: @malamamacrame or email her at
Linsey, a self-taught macramé artist, expresses her creativity and builds community through hands-on workshops that share this timeless craft. With roots tracing back to 13th-century Arab weavers and sailors at sea, macramé—derived from the Arabic word migramah, meaning “ornamental fringe”—continues to evolve through art, fashion, and functional design. Linsey discovered macramé at 19 while living in Maui, creating shell-adorned friendship bracelets she sold locally, inspired by the spirit of aloha and the principle of mālama—caring for land and sea—which led her to found Mālama Macramé. Passionate about crafting pieces that are both beautiful and useful, she now teaches others, fostering connection, creativity, and community through the shared experience of making.
